Agriculture & field monitoring

A planning example for a field site that needs local weather context. Use it to shape a requirement: what to measure, where to mount the sensor, and how data will leave the field.

Example planning workflow. Not a customer installation claim.

01 / Purpose

Turn a field question into a measurement set.

The purpose of this example is to define a small weather-observation requirement for an agricultural or field site. The site may need local wind, temperature, humidity and pressure context to support day-to-day decisions. The first step is to decide which of these observations are actually needed, rather than starting from a fixed package.

If liquid rainfall is also part of the question, it can be treated as a separate instrument decision using the rainfall guide.

02 / Proposed instrument

ZC-QXZ-002 portable weather station

Sensor illustration of the ZC-QXZ-002 portable weather station

The example uses one portable weather station measuring wind speed, wind direction, air temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure. The instrument includes a local display and is configured for tripod mounting.

Communications and power are not fixed here. They depend on the site and the way data will be used, so they are confirmed against the requirement.

03 / Site & communication questions

Questions to confirm before quotation

  • What decisions will the observations support, and which parameters are required?
  • Where can the sensor be mounted with representative exposure and safe access?
  • Is a tripod suitable for the surface and the expected site conditions?
  • How will the station be powered?
  • What data interface or logger will receive the measurements?
  • Will data leave the site wirelessly? If so, which destination and carrier need confirmation?
  • Who reviews the data, and what documentation is required?

04 / Example planning workflow

From requirement to quotation

  1. Define the observation

List the parameters, the decisions they support and the period of use.

  2. Select the instrument

Match the measurement set to the portable weather station or another instrument.

  3. Confirm the site

Check mounting, exposure, power, data interface and any wireless requirement.

  4. Prepare the quotation

Record the selected configuration, supplied items and documentation on the order.
